German Self-Introduction Phrase: "Freut mich"

"Freut mich" is a casual German way to say "Nice to meet you," literally meaning "It pleases me." A more polite, formal version is "Freut mich, Sie kennenzulernen" (Pleased to make your acquaintance). It's natural to say while shaking hands right after introducing yourself.

Examples

Ich heiße Anna. Freut mich.

"My name is Anna. Nice to meet you." (a common thing to add right after saying your name)

Freut mich, Sie kennenzulernen.

"Pleased to make your acquaintance." (a more polite, formal version)

Ganz meinerseits.

"Likewise." (a reply to "Freut mich")
