日本語
Japanese Phrase for Asking Someone's Age: "何歳ですか?"
"何歳ですか?" (Nansai desu ka?) means "How old are you?" and is a basic way to ask someone's age in Japanese. With children, the casual "何歳?" (Nansai?) is also used. For someone of higher status, the polite "おいくつですか?" (Oikutsu desu ka?) is used instead. Typical replies use "〜歳です" (~sai desu), as in "10歳です" (Jussai desu, I'm ten years old).
