Chinese Restaurant Phrase: "买单"
"买单" (mǎidān) means "the check, please" and is the standard phrase for asking for the bill at a restaurant in Chinese. Literally it means "buy the bill," but it's used as a fixed expression to request the check. A more polite version is "请给我买单" (could you bring the check, please).
